Australia Outback

Winter is a great time to visit the Outback since the temperature is not so hot. We visited mining towns specializing in opals, silver, and art. Click the links below to see some of Australia’s rural Outback towns.

  • Broken Hill - a silver mining town that has recently blossomed into an artist’s community
  • White Cliffs - sparsely populated and most residents mine for opals
  • Silverton - a ghost town just outside of Broken Hill where movies are sometimes filmed
